A not so exciting update!

I feel like there is not much to update on. Chad is plugging his way through school working on jet engines and loving this part of his school. Work for me has been insanely busy with RSV babies, and a full unit. This week has thrown me off a bit. None of my kids have been sick with respiratory infections however all super sick and one three year old with probable cancer (so hard). It has definitely stretched me and I have loved the change.

This Friday I have an interview at Seattle Children's in the PICU. In my opinion it is a long shot interview but I'm going to do my best. Its a hard unit to walk in to, they usually want long timers and PICU experienced nurses. But hey if it doesn't work out they are hiring all over the place at that hospital right now. Chad and I are hoping that I will have a job lined up kind of soon so that we can start planning our move back to the westside of the state. Lots to pray about.

Other than that not much is new. Chad has decided he wants to try to train Lincoln to be a bird dog someday. He has this play gun that he shoots before Lincoln eats to get him used to the sound of gun fire. He does pretty good I must say and Chad is super excited. Chad is also taking guitar lessons which is really cool. I can't wait to have more music in the house. He is going to be great!

Well thats our news!

He thinks he's small!!!

Lincoln was in a particularly cuddly mood this evening, which meant that his large body would be place quite inconveniently right on top of mine. The poor thing doesn't realize that he has grown and is no longer a lap dog. But here are some pictures of a our big boy!

Cutting hair!

A while ago Chad and I bought a kit so that I could start cutting his hair instead of paying every two weeks for a hair cut. Well tonight was my lucky night... the first hair cut. It was going ok and then I tried to blend the sides with the clippers, well it slipped and there is one small spot where you can see his scalp... UH OH!! But the rest of it looks pretty good... I even gave him "bangs" like he likes so he can spike the hair a bit. Well it'll get better with time and save us lots of money!

Valentines Day

Our Valentines Day was pretty wonderful. The day started off great, we both slept in which was much needed. Then Chad made me my favorite breakfast...french toast with strawberries. It was delicous. The rest of the day was pretty relaxing then Chad locked me into the back of the house as he prepared our evening. I knew we were having our "date" in the house so I curled my hair and got all dressed up. When he said it was time I opened the door to this...

The dinner was beautiful. He made this great salmon with a homemade glaze, rice pilaf and veggies. It was wonderful.
We had chocolate covered strawberries for dessert...mmm mmm!! Oh and Chad even opened up his bottle of wine for New Zealand... wow was I special! :-)

All tied up

So there was an evening a while back when Chad got this fabulous idea to quickly tie me up with electrical tape while I was sitting at the computer... here is the result.

Lincoln jumping through hoops

Lincoln learned to jump through hoops at class!

Crazy nut jobs who make my week interesting

So I thought it was going to be a typical work week with the unit full of sick babies with RSV. Little did I know that on Friday night I would be blessed with a wacked out family who does not believe in sickness or germs. Funny that their son was in the hospital with that belief system. This poor boy was what we call a status asthmatic. We were giving breathing treatments every two hours and that was not helping. His grandma was at the bedside saying "that medicine is toxic you are burning his face off" and other things such as "tap water is toxic only bottled water can touch the skin." You see he had a temp of 103 and I was trying to put cool cloths on him but I could not because water was bad for him. And of course tylenol is an absolute no. So this kid continued to get worse and multiple nurses and respiratory therapist tried to explain how sick he was but we were met with "there is no such thing as sickness.. germs do not cause disease" HOLY CRAP BATMAN ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? Needless to say he ended up in the ICU and they stuck to the story that he is fine and NOT sick. Nut jobs that like make being a nurse very difficult.

Other than that the week was fine. Work was definitely busy with every bed full. Chad took apart and put his first engine back together. He has a video of it being started for the first time which he will post. I also put up pictures of him working on the engine. YAY Chad!!!

We are home enjoying our Sunday together and he just changed the oil on his motorcyle hoping that spring will arrive quickly so that he can ride it. :-)

More updates to come soon!

Chad is now an aircraft mechanic!!

So the past month has been a stressful and full of test preparation for Chad. After he passed the written there was no time to relax. So he continued to hit the books hard and yesterday he took his Oral and Practical exam with the FAA for his airframe mechanic license! HE PASSED!!! He was lucky to only test for 6 hours. I was a nervous wreck the whole time checking my cell phone every 15minutes in hopes of hearing some news or an update. Finally at 2:30 I got a text that read "who is your airframe mechanic husband" I squealed and proceeded to call him. I was so excited when I got to the school where he was tested I left the car on and ran out and jumped on him! I'm so proud of him and I cannot even describe the wonderful smile he has been carrying around for the past couple of days Praise God!

The temp license!!
