California adventure

Last Thursday I came down to Bakersfield CA for my mother in law's retirement party.  After 28 years of teaching she has finally retired.  She and I spent some good time together Thursday and Friday.  We got manicures and pedicures together on Friday, her first ever, which was pretty nice, went shopping, enjoyed iced starbucks in the sun, a really good day.  Aunt Linda, Uncle Ralph, and Uncle Vernon came in on Friday too and we all went out to dinner.

Saturday Chad came down to be here for the party.  Well it turned out to be quite a day.  Chad missed his first flight, I scrambled to get him a new flight that would get him here by 1pm.  And we did it, got him a flight into Fresno,I drove and picked him up and we made it back just in time for the retirement party.  It was a beautiful celebration and Chad gave a very memorable speech that I know Carol will remember it for a long time.  After the party we came back to the house and had a small little birthday party for Carol because it was her birthday on Saturday as well.  It was such a nice day.

Yesterday we spent the day as a whole family.  Chad did a few repairs around the house and then was off to go back home yesterday evening.  There was of course another hiccup in his traveling.  His flight was delayed a few hours out of Bakersfield into San Francisco due to weather in San Fran.  They had to push back his connection  as well and he got home pretty late.  Poor guy.  But it gave us a chance to bring him In and Out at the airport :-)

I'm still down here until tomorrow.  I was quite under the weather this morning, I'm perking up now though!
