Salsa fiasco, and Lincolns favorite place

So last night Chad was being a wonderful husband and was cooking us dinner while I rested and recovered from my migraine. He was making the Mexican casserole that I make. Well he went to add the salsa and UH OH!!!



Lincoln cleaned up most of the mess... well at least on the floor. I was shocked that he liked salsa but then again the dog used to eat poop (thank goodness he grew out of that).

Also Chad and I recently discovered this awesome dog park up here. It is a huge fenced in area where dogs and run and play, there is even a separated gated play area for older dogs. PLUS there is an off leash walking trail through the woods too...totally awesome. There are usually plenty of dogs there and Lincoln gets himself good and tired. He usually lays down and has no energy to chase anything by time we leave. We also go there to work on training...he's getting better :-) yay!

Labor Day Week (I apologize this is a huge posting)

LABOR DAY WEEKEND:
So lets start with Labor Day weekend. We had a camping trip planned for months with our friends, Josh and Jen, Billy, Jon and Laura. Well well Labor day weekend arrived the sun decided to hide itself (it had given us lots of company prior to this weekend) and the rain appeared. And it came out with a vengeance. Chad and I were leery about going but in the end we loaded up and headed to Penrose State Park. We had enough time to get the tents set up, the cars unloaded and to take a little walk before the rain came through again. I had on a long sleeve shirt, a sweater and a down vest and I was still cold (I know I'm a wuss when it comes to the cold). When we got back from our walk the boys worked hard to get us a good fire going, it took some time but we finally had a nice hot fire to make smores over. Jon and Laura made us delicious campin spaghetti, and we cooked garlic bread over the fire (it was really good). We spent most of the evening around the fire and under the canopy trying to stay dry and warm. Lincoln loved it outside, I don't think he has had the much time with freedom, and he did pretty well most of the time. Jon and Laura brought there new pup Moose, and he was a lot of fun for all of us including Lincoln. That night we all cuddled up in a large 6 person tent (we stayed warm thats for sure). Lincoln on the other hand yelped until we had to put him in the back seat of the car to sleep for the night. He did well in there.
Chad and I left early the next day to head to the annual Lambert family BBQ. It's always a big deal and family and church family come to hang out all day and eat and play volleyball. This year that was a challenge with the rain. My dad works for over 16hrs to prepare the meat, he makes ribs, this year he did pulled pork and brisqett as well. Oh man was it good. I hope everyone knows how hard he works on that meat. My sistser Jennifer brought her new baby out, he will be 2 months tomorrow and he is getting so big I can hardly believe it. He was the bbq hit everyone thought he was the best thing since sliced bread.

It was great to see them. Chad and I were glad when we finally got home, and he was able to shower and put on clean clothes, you see he had forgotten to bring a new shirt with him uh oh!















FLYING:
On Wednesday the 9th Chad took Josh and I flying. Josh had been waiting for years to go with him and he finally was able to. The first plane we got had a broken starter so we got a new plane and we were off. Chad got clearance from Boeing field to do a scenic flight around Seattle. It was the best flight I've been on. He circled the city multiple times and then took us out over Whidbey Island. It was so great until the end when the winds kicked in and I got a bit sick to my tummy from the turbulence. Little air planes don't absorb much of it you just feel it all. Josh had taken Dramamine so he was good to go. Chad landed perfectly despite the winds.
We drove back down to Tacoma that evening to have dinner with some friends. We had the best steak oh man was it juicy. We went to Stanley and Seaforts mmm mmm good!!
















CHAD'S SCHOOL:
Soooo Friday the 11th Chad had his big cross country flight. He flew to Portland, then to Astoria and back to Everett. He did really great, minus some confusion in Astoria. Its uncontrolled airspace and he has never gotten that kind of clearance before. He made me crack up when he told the story. SOO now he is down to only his final check flights. WOO HOO then onto commercial flight training.

FAIR:
On Saturday while I slept and worked, Chad went to the puyallup fair with friends. He had a great time at the Rodeo and even rode the mechanical bull, but had a sore back for a couple of days. Glad I didn't try it. Then he stayed for this dancin in the dirt thing after but I guess it was big red neck party but bad food and bad dancing haha! Oh well he had fun.

This week has been a rough week for me, I have had headaches everyday for a week and a big migraine yesterday that required two shots. Chad took care of me all day, he was pretty amazing. They started me on some preventative medication in hopes that we can keep them at bay. It may be night shift but we dont know. I just need to hang out a while longer until I can get a day shift position. Chad is taking his knowledge test for his instrument rating this week. Pray for him its another big test. He is doing so well and I'm so proud of him.

Swine flu and ear infections= not fun times!

Well Chad had his stage II check ride this week which he has to do more again tomorrow. The flight was already 2hrs long and the instructor didn't have the time to complete the check off. So back up he goes tomorrow to do some "holding." All I know is that he has to use his instruments to stay on some heading based off of some sort of signal or something like that. It's all bluring together for me.

Work has been going well, I am buliding up more confidence with the level I'm at now and soon, as fall and flu season hits I'm sure I'll be taking care of much sicker kids. Believe it or not all the hub bub about swine flu (H1N1) might pan out to be true. We actually have 1 kid on Ecmo right now (which is similar to heart lung bipass machine), who was previous very healthy and another baby on all kids of support, both who have swine flu. We have had a few deaths and one girl recover from it but she was on the ventilator for a few weeks. Crazy eh? We are gearing up for the battle! I am not sure how I feel about getting the vaccine since it is so new but they are wanting it to be manditory for us. That will be 3 different shots for this fall, I thought I finished with that after elementary school. OH, I guess they are playing with the idea of admitting pregnant women who need ecmo since no adult hospital offers it ...NUTS!! Needless to say I enjoy my job, but still detest nights.

Chad and I are going camping this weekend with some friends because we are stupid and insane to camp in the predicted rain. We will see how that goes, maybe it won't rain after all (hahaha!!!)

On the Lincoln front he has an ear infection. Which is probably my fault from not cleaning his ears often enough after going swimming in the sound. He HATES having his ears cleaned. As soon as he sees me with a cotten ball he runs and hides, he is a fighther. So now he has to go through the routine twice a day, cleaning followed up with ear drops. Poor pup is gonna hate me by the end of two weeks.

Adventurous Day

Chad started his day off early with an 8am flight lesson. He only has about 5 more flights until his stage II check ride, then onto his last stage and then he will have his instrument rating!!! Woohoo we think he will be done mid Septemberish (if the weather cooperates). I went down to visit my sister and the baby for a little bit today the drive is an hour each way, but from Everett that's not bad :-) I came back and Chad took me on a flight. Two flights in a day for him, good way to build time. It was a gorgeous day to fly. I must admit I was a bit nervous. Small planes still make me a little uneasy and then my motion sickness doesn't help. But I did great and didn't get nauseated at all. Chad was very kind though. He wanted to make me sick but didn't.
After we got home I felt bad for Lincoln so we took him swimming, or attempted too. The tide was WAY in today. The water was rough and the waves got a bit intense. There are these logs right on the shore; the water got so rough that it dislodged all the logs and knocked a woman over, took her sandles with it, almost smashed Lincoln and a few other dogs. So we decided after about 20 minutes to be safe and head home. Bummer for Lincoln but if he understood he would say thank you I believe.
The evening was concluded with BBQing bacon cheeseburgers (not the most healthy but delicous), and eating rasperberry sorbet (which is fat free). :-)

Quick weekend in Spokane

Chad, Lincoln and I loaded up the car and headed back to Spokane on Friday. It felt like "home" for me being back there. That's probably because that is where Chad and I had our first home together. We drove by the place and it looks just the same as when we left it. We stayed with the Erickson family (we had our reception on their property). They are always so gracious. Emily their 9year old gave up her newly decorated room for the weekend, what a sweet girl.
We could not believe how big they are getting. Mark is talking like a big kid and testing what is appropriate to say which makes for some pretty funny things.

So the purpose for the trip as a wedding. Chad's friend Jon from Moody got married on Saturday. Jon was one of the guys that Chad was actually able to build a relationship with. The wedding we small and beautiful. We were all dancing at the reception when the electric slide came on, I figured everyone knew it since is one of that popular dances.... BUT I looked around and everyone was following me :-) I was a bit embarrassed but just went with the flow. Chad was shocked to see me dancing I think!!!

Sunday was a relaxing day at the house. Lincoln had a blast on the property and finally got the nerve up to go in the river yesterday. I don't know what his deal was he swims all the time.
The drive home was ridiculous so much traffic. It looks us an extra two hours to get home because of traffic.

I forgot to take pictures except a couple from yesterday. Wish I would have gotten on of Chad and I dressed up oh well.

Baby Fun!!

Well I consider myself very lucky! I have a beautiful nephew who is getting cuter by the day. He is a tough boy who made it through the yucky heat .

AND my good friend Lauren has a stinken cute little man who is 6mo old now! So big he is going to be TALL. On Thursday she came up and we took Rylan and Lincoln swimmin in the sound. Rylan had a blast and laughed and kicked and shivered in the cold water!!

Lincoln LOVED rylan. he was so gentle with him, gave him lots of kissed...in fact Rylan got his first french kiss from him haha!
